Becoming a first aid partner running your own first aid business or delivering in house training as part of International Paramedic College If you are looking to run in house training for your organisation or if you are in an existing first aid partnership and looking for a change, we are different, we are clinicians, with a background in emergency medicine. To apply or express your interest in driving your own new first aid business, please read the following requirements listed below to ensure you have the necessary qualifications and experience required to deliver accredited first aid training in Australia. Then you can submit your expression of interest.
Step 1: Submit your Current Resume Certificate IV in Training Assessment
All accredited trainers delivering accredited training in first aid must submit a current resume and a copy of the following mandatory qualifications regardless of your medical experience or background. This is set by the regulatory body for training organisations The Australian Government Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) This means that we require trainers to have the following mandatory qualifications:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and the following:
- TAELLN411 – Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor
- TAELLN401A – Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
and one of the following:
- TAEASS502 – Design and develop assessment tools or its successor or
- TAEASS502A – Design and develop assessment tools or
- TAEASS502B – Design and develop assessment tools.
or
- A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
You will be required to email us the Certificate and the Transcript (if applicable) of your TAE along with your current resume outlining your experience to process your Expression of Interest (EOI). Certificate of Currency - Public Liability
All contracted trainers with International Paramedic College will be required to hold current public liability and professional indemnity insurance themselves or coverage through the company they work for.
Checking of Qualifications
IPC’s applications team will review all information provided to us to ensure due diligence and that all our compliance obligations as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45284) are met.
Applicants will need to declare any conflicts of interest, ASAQ regulatory decisions or previous non – compliance issues in training delivery.
Background About Your Business
As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to provide some information about the intended target market for your services and background of your business. A simple few paragraphs about; your target market, the areas population and how your point of difference or why you see a market in your area. This will assist you to clarify the “pros and cons” and ensure that you have considered the important elements before we discuss your expression of interest further.
Current qualifications related to the course you wish to deliver
- Minimum requirements vary depending on the courses you are wanting to deliver. As an example, you must hold the qualifications you want to deliver or a higher qualification. You may submit qualifications that are higher than the required minimum, for example a practising Paramedic may submit their Diploma or Degree
- When you are requested to submitt a qualification (e.g a Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma) please include the transcript
Working with Children’s Clearance & Police Check
International Paramedic College trainers must hold a current working with children’s check (or State equivalent). This must not be the volunteer version and must be the appropriate version for paid employment.
Contracted trainers must provide a current police check.
Evidence of your Industry Experience and Skills
All Training and assessment in Australia should be provided by those who have current industry skills and knowledge. References noted in your resume will be contacted to support your application.
Your resume should outline your industry experience and currency.
- Volunteering or working the industry
- Undertaking accredited training relevant to the industry area
- Belonging to industry associations or peak bodies
- Regular professional development
- Keeping up to date with changes in the industry
Training and support equipment
All trainers will require equipment appropriate to deliver and manage the course content and their business
- Training manikins
- AED trainers
- Laptop
- Mobile phone etc
- Appropriate insurances
Induction support and mentorship program
All trainers will be given extensive mentoring support and can draw on our experience to support their success with weekly business and clinical mentoring. Induction will be completed prior to commencement
